Questa breve nota analizza la capacità di ricerca, gestione e studio delle acque sotterranee da parte di popolazioni, civiltà e culture che si sono succedute per millenni nell'Etruria meridionale, nel versante tirrenico del Lazio, dall'antichità sino ai giorni nostri. Dei popoli antichi conosciamo le tecniche di captazione e canalizzazione, ma nulla sappiamo degli studi sulle acque sotterranee che pure devono aver preceduto tali manufatti.
